The Evidence in Pictures

You have been warned, our members are out there in the dark with their cameras, tripods and scopes. There is only one thing certain: the sample collection here will grow on you. We will try to keep it under control.  

Some are now using CCD cameras and also DSLR cameras. Hold on to your rods and cones!

The Constellation Sagittarius sets over Mingus Mountain on July 2nd at 3 AM. See below for a picture with the constellation lines. Click on picture for larger view.

The constellation of Sagittarius, the Archer is also known as the Teapot. Just below is the constellation of Corona Australis, the Southern Crown.

The Ring Nebula also known as Messier 51 or M51, is located about 1200-1400 light years away in Lyra. Note the central star is visible at 16th magnitude.

Comet McNaught R1 paid a visit to a small galaxy NGC891 on its trip thru the night sky. Other smaller galaxies are visible in the frame also.
